I’m LuAna Madrid

I am a Mexican American artist based in Chicago and originally from South Texas. I started painting when I was about five years old, but somewhere along the way, I put the brush down.

Over a decade later, after leaving my hometown, I found my way back to painting during a season of life when I was rediscovering myself and the things that brought me joy.

What started as a creative outlet became something much deeper.

Color was always present growing up, and I’ve always believed in the way it can shape how we feel and experience the world.

I find inspiration in the vibrant colors of Mexican folk art, my loved ones, the conversations I share, the places I’ve been, the music I connect with, the deep blues and storytelling in Frida Kahlo’s work, and the small beauties I find in everyday life.

Painting is how I stay connected to the present moment, my memories, and myself.
